Raasta: Simplifying Public Transport with AI

Timeline

September 2025

Discipline

UX UI, AI

Why This Project

Commuters spend too much time navigating multiple apps, facing confusing ticketing, and unpredictable public transport.

Fragmented transport apps → multiple logins & confusing navigation

No real-time updates for buses or last-mile options

Complex or unreliable ticketing systems

Tools I used

Through this project, I explored and experimented with multiple AI-powered design tools across different stages of the UX process:

Perplexity AI – for research and competitor analysis

Whimsical AI – for brainstorming and mind mapping

FigJam AI – for creating Information Architecture and user flows

Figma Make (AI) – for generating wireframes and UI screens

Uizard AI – for AI-based wireframe and screen generation

Indosh AI (or Inodash AI) – for user persona generation

Project Goal

Goal

To create an all-in-one mobile app that plans routes, books tickets, and manages last-mile travel seamlessly, using AI-assisted UX design.

What makes this project special?

The project also serves as an exploration of the latest AI tools, which I leveraged at every stage, from generating user personas and journey maps to creating IA, user flows, and wireframes, showcasing how AI can enhance the entire UX/UI design process.

Research & Insights

Perplexity AI: Summarized competitor apps, market stats, and user feedback from multiple sources.

Survey Analysis & Dovetail AI: Extracted key pain points and thematic groups from user quotes.

Competitor analysis of apps: Moovit, Transit, Citymapper, Google Maps, regional transport apps.

Representative User Quotes:

“I juggle between three different apps just to reach work on time.”

“Bus schedules are mostly outdated, making planning stressful.”

“Booking tickets is confusing, sometimes I face payment errors.”

User Persona &

Journey Mapping

I tested several AI tools to create personas and journeys. Inodash AI worked best, helping generate realistic personas to guide the design.

Brainstorming & Mind Map

Using Whimsical AI, I brainstormed ideas and organized them into a clear mind map. This helped structure features, app flow, and user needs before moving to IA and wireframes.

Information Architecture

Using Figma Jam AI, I created the Information Architecture for the app.

Wireframes

Using Figma Make AI, I generated the app wireframes based on the IA and user flows. The AI helped quickly create structured layouts for each screen, ensuring consistency and visual clarity.

Home Page

Quick access to route search, recent trips, live tracking, and alerts, everything you need for a smooth daily commute in one place

Plan & Book

Easily find routes, manage tickets, and make quick payments

Last-Mile Options

Find nearby rides like bikes, autos, cabs, or shuttles to reach your destination safely and conveniently.

Community & Support

Connect with other commuters, share feedback, join discussions, and access help or FAQs all in one place.

AI Assistant

Get instant help with your commute through a smart AI chatbot, available on all pages for guidance, issue resolution, and quick actions.

Design Learnings

AI can significantly speed up ideation and help visualize concepts faster.

Cross-verifying AI-generated outputs is crucial, not all suggestions make logical or UX sense.

Using multiple AI tools across stages ensures creativity, but maintaining consistency requires manual refinement.

Visual clarity (like color consistency, bold headers, and hierarchy) still needs human judgment.
